Zhu Feiyue (朱飛躍)

Born 1964, Zhu Feiyue (朱飛躍) enrolled in an opera school in Anhui and studied opera music in 1978. He joined the Anhui Huangmei Opera Theater (安徽省黃梅戲劇院) as a musician after graduation in 1981, and became the principal musician of the troupe’s musical band in 1983. In September 1993, he entered the Department of Chinese Opera, Chinese National Academy of Arts (中國藝術研究院研究生部戲曲系) and began his research on the history and theories of Chinese opera. He graduated in 1996 with a master’s degree of Arts and continued his research at the Chinese National Academy of Arts. He is currently a research fellow at the Center for Ethnic and Folk Literature and Art Development (民族民間文藝發展中心) of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (文化和旅遊部). He was an editor in the chief editorial department of Collection of Chinese Opera and Music (中國戲曲音樂集成), a key national art research project, and has published various research papers including Tan Hui Ju (About Hui Opera) (談徽劇), Hubei de Hua Gu Xi (Hubei Flower-Drum Opera) (湖北的花鼓戲), Chuan Cheng yu Bian Yi  - Huang Mei Xi Yuan Liu Xin Tan (Lineage and Evolution - A Fresh Look at the Origin and Development of the Huangmei Opera School) (傳承與變異──黃梅戲源流新探).
