
In December 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbour of the United States which triggered the Pacific War. As a key member of the Allied powers, China sent an expeditionary force to Myanmar to fight against the Japanese while fighting the enemy at home. China also participated in the establishment of the United Nations. In August 1945, the United States detonated two atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Meanwhile, the Soviet troops also crushed the Japanese Kwantung Army, resulting in Japan’s unconditional surrender. China finally won the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

On 8 December 1941 (7 December US time), Japan launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbour and as a response, the United States declared war on it. China became a major power when the Allies of World War II took shape.
Japan attempted its third invasion of Changsha between 24 December 1941 and 16 January 1942, during which the National Revolutionary Army defeated the enemy and secured another victory.
Starting in 1942, the National Revolutionary Army made expeditions to Myanmar to help resist Japan. Hard-won and vital victories were made on foreign lands.
Chiang Kai-shek attended the Cairo Conference to discuss the counterattack deployment on Japan and post-war settlements with the American and British leaders in Egypt in November 1943. After the conference, the Cairo Declaration was issued.
Between April and December 1944, Japan’s Operation Ichi-Go brought the National Revolutionary Army the second debacle since the start of the War of Resistance. However, the Japanese left the battle as a spent force.
The Chinese people at home and abroad supported the War of Resistance in various ways, including enlisting in the army, raising funds, donating goods, and creating works of art.
On 15 August 1945, the then Japanese Emperor Hirohito announced Japan’s unconditional surrender to the Allies. China finally won the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
The United Nations was established after World War II. China was one of its founding countries, and one of the five permanent members of its Security Council.
