Doctor Li Xiangtao (李湘濤)

Doctor Li Xiangtao (李湘濤) is a zoologist who works at the Beijing Museum of Natural History (北京自然博物館) as a director of animal research and research fellow. He is also the associate chief editor of the magazine Dong Wu Shi Jie (Animal World) (動物世界), a special correspondent (photography) for the magazine Ren yu Sheng Wu Quan (Man and the Biosphere) (人與生物圈), a council member of the China Ornithological Society (中國鳥類學會), the secretary of Beijing Zoological Society (北京動物學會) and a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), Species Survival Commission (SSC) and the Scientific Advisory Committee of the World Pheasant Association (WPA).

 

He devoted to scientific researches on wild animal ecology and the protection of endangered species, animal photography and science outreach. He has led around a dozen scientific research projects on various topics funded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (中國科學院), the State Forestry Administration (林業部), National Natural Science Foundation of China (國家自然科學基金) and the Beijing Municipal Natural Science Foundation (北京市自然科學基金), and published five scientific treatises in Chinese and English and over 20 scientific research papers. With these achievements, he was awarded the Science and Technological Progress Award (科技進步獎) by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (中國科學院). In addition, he has authored and edited around a dozen books in Chinese and English and written over a hundred articles, and was responsible for the design of a number of permanent animal displays and other major exhibitions on environmental protection and wild animals at Beijing Museum of Natural History (北京自然博物館).
